SolidWorks 2026 Premium

Version 2026 SP3.2Dassault Systemes16.4 GBPremiumRefreshed 2 weeks ago

Parametric mechanical design with assemblies, simulation and drawing output in the Premium package.

About this release

SolidWorks is a history based parametric modeller aimed at mechanical design and manufacturing. A part is a sequence of features driven by sketches and dimensions, so changing a dimension rebuilds everything downstream, and the drawing that comes off it updates with the change. That relationship between model, assembly and drawing is the reason it took over so much of the engineering world.

Assemblies are where the work happens on real products. Mates constrain components the way physical joints do, motion can be checked before anything is cut, interference detection finds where parts collide, and configurations let one assembly represent an entire product family rather than a folder of near identical files.

The Premium package is the full one. It adds motion analysis, structural simulation with stress and displacement results, routing for piping, tubing and electrical harnesses, and the tolerance analysis tools that matter when a design has to be manufacturable rather than just correct on screen.

Drawing output is complete and follows engineering standards properly. Views, sections, details, dimensions, tolerances, bills of material and revision tables all generate from the model and stay linked to it. Sheet metal, weldments and mould tools cover the fabrication side, and export writes the formats a machine shop expects.

What it does

History based modelling
Feature tree with sketch driven dimensions, so a change rebuilds everything downstream.
Assemblies with mates
Physical joint behaviour, motion checking and interference detection.
Configurations
One file represents a whole product family instead of a folder of copies.
Simulation included
Stress, displacement and motion analysis in the Premium package.
Routing
Piping, tubing and electrical harness design with real component libraries.
Drawing output
Sections, details, tolerances and bills of material linked live to the model.

Changed in this version

  • Faster rebuild on large assemblies with deep feature trees.
  • Improved detailing performance on drawings with many views.
  • Simulation meshing reworked for better convergence.
  • Sheet metal tools gain new corner and relief options.
  • Better import of geometry from other modelling systems.

System requirements

Processor3 GHz or faster with high single core performance
Memory32 GB recommended, 16 GB minimum
GraphicsWorkstation class GPU with 4 GB or more of dedicated memory
Disk40 GB free, solid state strongly recommended
Display1920 by 1080 or higher

Install order

  1. Unpack the archive, which is large, so check free space first.
  2. Install the prerequisite runtime components the installer lists.
  3. Run the installer and include simulation and routing if you need them.
  4. Launch once and set the drawing standard and units template.

Worth knowing before you start

A workstation graphics driver makes a noticeable difference to viewport behaviour.

Set the units and drawing standard template before starting real work.
