About this release
AutoCAD is the drafting standard that most other tools are measured against, and the file format everyone else has to read. The 2027 build keeps the command line workflow that experienced drafters work through, the layer and block system, external references, layouts and paper space, and annotative scaling, and spends its effort on performance and on the parts of the interface that were slowing people down.
The 2D side is where most of the hours go. Dimensioning, hatching, tables, fields, dynamic blocks and attribute extraction all behave the way a drawing office expects. External references keep a sheet set coordinated across a team, and layer states let a single drawing serve several outputs without duplicate files.
The 3D side covers solid, surface and mesh modelling, sectioning, and visual styles for presentation. It is not a replacement for a dedicated modelling application, but for the amount of 3D that a drafting job actually needs, it is more than enough and it stays in the same file as the drawing.
Publishing and sheet sets are the part that saves the most time on a large job. A whole set plots to paper or to PDF in one operation with correct page setups, and sheet numbering, revision tracking and index sheets update themselves.
What it does
- Command line workflow
- The full command set with aliases, so experienced drafters keep their speed.
- Dynamic blocks
- Parametric blocks with visibility states and stretch behaviour.
- External references
- Drawings, images and PDFs referenced live so a set stays coordinated.
- Sheet sets
- Numbering, revisions and index sheets update across a whole set.
- Solid and surface modelling
- Enough 3D to cover drafting work without leaving the file.
- Batch publishing
- Plot a full set to paper or PDF in one operation with correct page setups.
Changed in this version
- Faster open and regeneration on very large drawings.
- Improved handling of externally referenced PDFs.
- Trace and markup workflow reorganised.
- Better graphics performance on high density displays.
- Hatch operations run faster on complex boundaries.
System requirements
| Processor | 2.5 GHz or faster, higher clock preferred over core count |
|---|---|
| Memory | 16 GB recommended, 8 GB minimum |
| Graphics | GPU with 4 GB of dedicated memory and DirectX 12 support |
| Disk | 12 GB free, solid state recommended |
| Display | 1920 by 1080 or higher |
Install order
- Unpack the archive to a path without spaces.
- Close any other Autodesk application before starting.
- Run the installer and select the language pack you need.
- Launch once and let the profile and plot style setup complete.
Worth knowing before you start
Plot styles and profiles can be imported from an earlier release after first launch.
Drawing performance depends more on processor clock than on core count.
