About this release
Premiere Pro is built for the kind of project that runs for weeks: documentary assemblies, multi camera interviews, commercial cutdowns and anything where the bin is going to end up with a thousand clips in it. The 2026 build keeps the familiar source and program monitors, the track based timeline and the project panel, and spends its effort on how fast that timeline responds when the media underneath it is heavy.
The media engine handles the current camera formats natively. Long GOP footage from mirrorless bodies, raw formats from cinema cameras and high frame rate phone captures all scrub without a proxy step, and when you do want proxies the batch runs in the background while you keep cutting. Multi camera sequences sync by audio waveform quickly enough that a four camera panel is a couple of minutes of setup rather than an afternoon.
Audio work happens in place. The essential sound panel classifies clips as dialogue, music, effects or ambience and exposes the repair, loudness and ducking controls appropriate to each, so most edits never need to leave for a dedicated audio application. Loudness normalisation targets for broadcast and streaming are preset and can be applied across a whole sequence.
Everything downstream is intact. Dynamic link to After Effects works both directions, Lumetri handles primary and secondary grading with scopes, captions can be generated from speech and styled on the timeline, and the export queue hands off to Media Encoder so a long render never blocks the edit.
What it does
- Native camera formats
- Long GOP, raw and high frame rate media play back on the timeline without transcoding first.
- Multi camera that syncs by sound
- Waveform sync builds a multi camera source sequence from separate cards in minutes, with a switchable angle view.
- Essential sound
- Dialogue repair, loudness targets, ducking and ambience shaping live in one panel keyed to how each clip is classified.
- Lumetri colour with scopes
- Primary, secondary and curve grading with waveform, vectorscope and parade readouts docked beside the program monitor.
- Speech to captions
- Transcripts generate on the timeline and convert into styled caption tracks that burn in or export as sidecar files.
- Background export
- Renders hand off to Media Encoder so the edit keeps moving while the queue works.
Changed in this version
- Faster timeline redraw on sequences with heavy effect stacks.
- Improved handling of variable frame rate phone footage on import.
- Caption styling gains per line positioning and safe area snapping.
- Colour management defaults reworked for mixed log and rec709 timelines.
- Project files open noticeably faster on bins past a thousand items.

Worth knowing before you start
Dynamic link works with the matching After Effects and Media Encoder builds.
Media cache defaults to the system drive, so move it before starting a large project.
