About this release
KeyShot's reputation comes from how little there is between importing a model and having a believable image of it. Bring in the geometry, drag a material from the library onto a part and it is applied. Drag a lighting environment onto the scene and the whole thing is lit. The render view updates continuously the entire time, so every decision is made while looking at the finished result rather than at a preview approximation.
The material library is the reason product designers reach for it first. Metals, plastics, glass, liquids, fabrics, coatings, painted finishes and translucent materials are all measured rather than approximated, so they behave correctly under any lighting without being tuned. Labels and graphics apply on top of a material with their own placement and finish, which is how packaging and branded product shots are built.
Lighting is environment based and immediate. High dynamic range environments light the scene realistically with no light placement at all, and the environment can be rotated, scaled and adjusted for brightness while watching the result. Physical lights are added on top when a specific highlight or accent is needed, and the studio system stores whole combinations of environment, camera and model set for switching between looks.
It imports directly from the major modelling systems and keeps the part structure, so materials survive a geometry update instead of being reassigned every revision. Output covers stills, turntable and camera path animations, interactive scenes a client can rotate themselves, and configurator setups where material and part options are switched by the viewer.

Install order
- Unpack the archive and run the installer.
- Install the material and environment libraries during setup or point at an existing copy.
- Select the render device in preferences so the graphics card is used.
- Import a test model first to confirm the plug in bridge from your modelling application works.
Worth knowing before you start
The material and environment libraries are large and can live on a separate drive.
Graphics card rendering needs a ray tracing capable card and a current driver.
