About this release

PDF-XChange Pro is three products in one bundle: the editor for working on documents, the virtual printer for producing them from any application that can print, and the conversion toolkit for turning office documents, images and drawings into documents without opening each one by hand. Together they cover the whole life of a document.

The editor is unusually quick. It opens very large documents in a fraction of the time heavier applications take, scrolls smoothly through hundreds of pages, and does text editing, page reordering, merging, splitting, stamping, redaction, form authoring and optical character recognition without ever feeling like it is straining. On older hardware the difference against the mainstream alternative is dramatic.

Markup and review are handled thoroughly. Highlights, notes, callouts, measurement tools, drawing tools and stamps all carry author information, and comments from several reviewers merge into one document with filtering by author, type or date order. Measurement with calibrated scales makes it usable for checking drawings rather than only reading them.

The printer component installs as an ordinary printer, so anything printable becomes a document with control over compression, embedded fonts, security and page size. The conversion toolkit runs the same job across a folder, including from office formats and from images, with optical character recognition applied on the way through so the results are searchable.

System requirements

Install order

1. Unpack the archive.
2. Run the installer as administrator so the virtual printer registers.
3. Choose which of the three components to install.
4. Set the application as the default document handler if you want it to be.
