About this release
This image covers the current perpetual line of the desktop suite and lets the release be chosen during setup, so one download serves a machine that needs the newest build and a machine that has to stay on the previous one for compatibility. In both cases it installs locally, runs from disk, and does not depend on anything after setup.
The current release is the strongest the perpetual line has been. Excel gains the newer function set including dynamic arrays and the modern lookup functions, along with a faster calculation engine on large models. Word picks up better performance on long documents with heavy graphics and a cleaner review workflow. PowerPoint handles motion and recording more capably.
Outlook is the application that changed most. Search is faster on large mailboxes, profile loading no longer stalls on accounts with years of mail, and rules processing is more reliable across multiple accounts. For anyone with a mailbox measured in gigabytes rather than megabytes the difference is immediate.
The Professional Plus application set is complete, so Access and Publisher are present alongside the four core applications. The installer picks architecture, language and which applications land on disk, and files move cleanly in both directions with older and newer releases.
