About this release

Office 2021 Professional Plus is the perpetual release that sits between the older 2019 build and the current line. It brings the newer Excel function set, the redesigned interface, dark mode across the applications and improved coauthoring, while still installing once and running locally with nothing checking in afterwards.

The Excel changes are the strongest argument for moving up from 2019. Dynamic arrays spill results across a range automatically, the newer lookup and text functions remove a lot of nested formula work, and the calculation engine handles large models faster. Anyone maintaining serious spreadsheets will feel the difference immediately.

Word and PowerPoint gain quality of life rather than reinvention. Better ink handling, a cleaner review pane, faster rendering on documents with heavy graphics, and presentation recording that captures narration and timing in one pass. Outlook picks up the newer search index and quicker profile loading on large mailboxes.

As with the other perpetual builds, the image installs either architecture and lets you deselect applications you do not need. Files move cleanly in both directions with older and newer releases.
