About this release
The publisher's own deployment tooling for the office suite is a command line utility driven by a configuration file, and almost nobody wants to write that file by hand. This is the graphical front end for it. Every option that the configuration file supports is exposed as a control, the file is generated as you click, and the deployment runs straight from the same window.
The deployment screen covers the whole matrix. Suite version and channel, architecture, which individual applications are included, which display and proofing languages are installed, whether an existing installation is removed first, whether the setup shows progress or runs silently, and where the source files are pulled from. A machine that only needs three applications in one language gets exactly that.
There is a full management side beyond the initial install. Existing installations are listed with their build, channel and component set, applications can be added or removed from an install already on disk without a full reinstall, the channel can be switched, and a broken install can be repaired in place. Configuration state and product information are reported in a readable pane.
Everything is portable and everything is scriptable. The tool runs from a folder without installing itself, and any configuration built in the interface can be exported as a file or a command line, so the same setup can be repeated across a fleet of machines without going through the screens each time. The interface is multilingual and the theme follows the system setting.
What it does
- Full deployment control
- Version, channel, architecture, applications, languages and removal behaviour all set before the install runs.
- Manage an existing install
- Add or remove applications, switch channel and repair in place without a full reinstall.
- Configuration reporting
- Lists what is installed with build, channel and component detail in a readable pane.
- Export the setup
- Any configuration built in the interface exports as a file or a command line for reuse.
- Portable
- Runs from a folder without installing itself and leaves nothing behind.
- Multilingual interface
- Twelve interface languages with the theme following the system setting.
Changed in this version
- Deployment screen reorganised with clearer application grouping.
- Faster download when pulling source files for a full suite.
- Improved removal of older suite generations before installing.
- Additional language pack options exposed in the interface.
- Interface scaling corrected on high density displays.
System requirements
| Processor | 1.6 GHz or faster |
|---|---|
| Memory | 2 GB minimum, 4 GB recommended |
| Disk | 10 GB free for a full suite deployment |
| Network | A working connection while source files are downloaded |
| System | Windows 8.1 or newer |
Install order
- Unpack the archive to a folder or a stick, nothing needs installing.
- Run the executable as administrator.
- Build the deployment on the deploy screen, checking architecture and language before starting.
- Export the configuration afterwards if the same setup is going onto other machines.
Worth knowing before you start
Source files download during deployment, so a stable connection matters for the duration.
Removing an older suite generation first avoids component conflicts on the new install.
