About this release

Nitro's whole design argument is that the people who handle documents in an office already know a ribbon interface, so the application should use one. The result is a PDF editor that an administrator picks up in an afternoon rather than a week, with the tools grouped the way the office suite groups them and named the way the office suite names them.

Conversion is the part most businesses buy it for. PDF files export to word processor, spreadsheet and presentation formats with tables, columns and styles surviving the trip well enough that the result is genuinely editable rather than a heap of text boxes. Anything printable converts into PDF through a virtual printer, and batch conversion runs across a folder of hundreds of documents in one operation.

Editing covers the whole document. Text edits in place with proper reflow, images swap and crop, pages reorder, insert, extract, rotate and split, and several files combine into one with bookmarks generated from the source names. Headers, footers, page numbering, watermarks and stamps apply across a document or a batch of them in a single pass.

The enterprise side is what separates this from a desktop editor. Signing workflows send a document for signature and track its progress, shared review collects comments from a distributed team, redaction removes content properly for anything going outside the organisation, and the deployment tooling covers silent installation and policy configuration across a fleet of machines.
