About this release

Foxit built its reputation on being the PDF application that opens instantly, and the full editor has kept that character while growing into a complete document tool. It launches in a fraction of the time the heavyweight alternatives take, holds a much smaller memory footprint with several large documents open, and still does the whole job: create, edit, convert, recognise, sign, protect and organise.

Editing works on paragraphs rather than on text objects. Click into a block, type, and the text reflows across lines and across pages with the styling preserved, which is the behaviour people expect and rarely get. Images move, crop and swap in place, pages reorder, split, merge, rotate and extract, and a whole document can be rebuilt from several sources without leaving the application.

Optical character recognition turns scanned paper into a searchable, selectable document, handling multi column layouts and tables without scrambling reading order. It runs over a single file or across a watched folder in batch, which is what an office digitising a filing cabinet actually needs. Conversion in both directions covers the office formats with tables and layout intact.

The business side is well covered. Form authoring with field detection, calculations and response collection, redaction that genuinely removes content rather than covering it, certificate and password based protection, shared review with comment merging, and a signature workflow that handles both certificate signatures and ordinary signing requests. Batch actions apply any of that across a folder in one run.

2. Close the browser and any other PDF application before installing.
