Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

Version 2026.001.21789Adobe312 MBFull desktop buildRefreshed 2 days ago

The reference desktop PDF viewer with commenting, form filling and signature handling for documents that have to display correctly.

About this release

Every browser can show a PDF now, and for a receipt or a two page letter that is fine. For anything where the document has to be exactly right, it is not. Complex layouts, embedded fonts, layered artwork, attachments, digital signatures and forms with real logic behind them are the cases where the browser viewer quietly gets something wrong and the desktop reader does not. That is what this is for.

Form handling is the strongest reason to keep it installed. Fillable documents behave the way their author intended, calculations run, validation fires, required fields are enforced, and the completed file saves with the entered data intact rather than flattening it into something the recipient cannot process. Documents from government departments and banks in particular tend to work only here.

Commenting and review are complete. Highlights, sticky notes, text markup, stamps, drawing tools and measurement live in one panel, comments from several reviewers merge into a single document, and the comment list can be filtered by author or type and exported as a summary for anyone who needs the notes without the file.

Signature handling covers both ends. Certificate based signatures are validated and their status shown clearly, and a signature can be applied to a document that requests one. Accessibility is genuinely supported as well, with a reading order view, reflow for small screens and screen reader output, which is often the deciding factor in a public sector office.
