About this release

MyDockFinder rebuilds the parts of the desktop that people who move between systems miss most. A dock sits at the edge of the screen with magnification, running indicators, stacks and folder previews, and a bar across the top carries the clock, the status icons and a global menu, all drawn with proper blur and transparency rather than flat imitation.

It sits on top of the existing shell instead of replacing it, which is the sensible design decision. The standard taskbar can be hidden or kept, every system function keeps working, and uninstalling puts everything back the way it was. Nothing about the underlying system is modified, so updates do not break it.

Window management is the part that turns it from decoration into something useful. Full screen spaces, an exposé style overview of every open window, hot corners for showing the desktop or the overview, and smooth animations on minimise and restore. On a large display the overview is genuinely faster than hunting through a taskbar.

Almost everything is adjustable. Dock size, position, magnification curve, blur strength, animation speed, icon spacing and which items appear in the top bar are all preferences, and icon packs can be swapped for the whole dock at once. Resource use stays low enough that it is not noticeable on a modern machine.

System requirements

Install order

1. Unpack the archive to a permanent folder rather than a temporary one.
2. Run the application and allow it to start with the system if you want it permanent.
3. Hide the standard taskbar in system settings if the dock is replacing it.
4. Set dock size, position and blur strength in preferences.
