About this release

Deploying an Office suite by hand means writing a configuration file, understanding the product identifiers, matching the channel to the version you actually want, and then hoping the setup engine agrees with you. This utility puts all of that behind a small window with drop down lists, builds the configuration for you, and then drives the install to completion while showing progress in a log pane.

Two versions ship together. The full build includes the download engine, so it can pull the suite components itself and then install from what it collected, which suits a technician setting up several machines from one working copy. The Lite build leaves the download engine out and installs from source files you already have, which keeps it small enough to sit on a stick alongside everything else.

The selection screen is where the value is. Product, version, channel, architecture, display language and the individual applications are all pickable, so a machine gets Word, Excel and Outlook without Access and Publisher landing on it as well. Proofing tools and additional display languages are separate lists rather than being bundled into the product choice.

There is also a maintenance side. It can read what a machine currently has installed, repair a damaged suite in place, remove a suite cleanly including the leftovers that the ordinary uninstaller leaves behind, and switch an existing install from one channel to another without a full reinstall. For anyone who rebuilds machines regularly, that removes most of an afternoon.

System requirements

Install order

1. Unpack the archive to a folder with room for downloaded components.
2. Run the executable with administrator rights.
3. Choose product, version, channel, architecture, language and applications.
4. Start the run and leave it alone until the log reports that it has finished.
