About this release

Driver Booster scans the hardware in a machine, compares what is installed against a large driver database, and offers the newer versions in one list. On a machine that has been running for a few years, that list is usually longer than the owner expects, and out of date graphics, chipset and audio drivers are behind a lot of problems that look like something else entirely.

The safety features are what make automatic driver updating reasonable rather than reckless. A restore point is created before anything changes, every replaced driver is backed up, and a rollback returns any single driver to its previous version if the new one causes trouble. Updates can be applied one at a time so a problem is easy to attribute.

The Pro edition adds unattended updating on a schedule, higher download priority, the full driver database rather than a subset, and game component updates for the runtime libraries that games commonly need. It also handles offline machines by exporting a driver package that can be carried across on a stick.

Beyond drivers there is a small set of fix tools for common symptoms: no sound, no network adapter, resolution stuck at a default, and device errors that trace back to a bad driver install. Each one runs a targeted repair rather than a general clean up.
