About this release

Windows will grow a partition into space directly behind it and refuses almost everything else. Partition Wizard does the rest: shrink a volume and move it, extend a system partition using space from somewhere else on the disk, merge two partitions without losing what is on either, split one in place and change cluster sizes, all with the data intact.

Migration is the operation most people install it for. Moving an installed system from a mechanical drive to a solid state one, copying a whole disk to a larger one, or cloning a partition to another machine all run as guided operations that handle the boot configuration afterwards, which is the step that turns a clone into a machine that actually starts.

Conversion covers the changes that would otherwise mean a rebuild. Basic to dynamic and back, the two partition table styles in both directions without deleting anything, and file system conversion between the common Windows formats in place. Each of those is a rebuild in any other tool.

Recovery is the other half. A partition recovery scan finds volumes lost to a bad table or a careless delete and rebuilds the entry, file recovery pulls individual files back from a formatted or damaged volume, and the surface test and file system check find the physical and logical damage underneath. A bootable stick built from the program handles the cases where Windows will not start at all.

Install order

2. Run the installer and allow it administrator rights.
3. Build the bootable media before making any change to a system partition.
4. Queue operations, review the pending list, then apply them in one pass.
