Driver Easy Professional

Version 7.1.5.5744Easeware24 MBProfessionalRefreshed 5 days ago

Scans the machine, identifies every device and pulls the matching drivers in one pass.

About this release

Driver Easy solves the problem that appears after every fresh system install: a device manager full of unknown devices and no obvious way to work out what they are. It reads the hardware identifiers directly, matches them against a large driver database and presents a list of what is missing, what is outdated and what is working, with the correct package for each one ready to fetch.

The professional build removes the parts that make the free version tedious. Downloads run at full speed, all devices update in one action rather than one at a time, and the whole pass can run unattended. On a machine being rebuilt, that turns an afternoon of hunting through manufacturer sites into a scan, a click and a restart.

Restore points and driver backup are the features that make it safe to use. Every change is preceded by a system restore point, the previous driver is archived before replacement, and a single button rolls back anything that made the machine worse. The backup can be exported to a folder or an archive so an offline machine can be serviced without any network at all.

The offline scan tool is the other reason it stays on a technician's stick. It generates a hardware profile on a machine with no network, which is then taken to a connected machine to fetch the drivers, brought back and installed. That covers the classic dead end where the missing driver is the network adapter itself.

What it does

Hardware identifier matching
Reads device identifiers directly rather than guessing from names, so unknown devices resolve correctly.
One pass updating
Every outdated or missing driver downloads and installs in a single unattended action.
Restore points and backup
A restore point before each change and an archive of the previous driver for one click rollback.
Offline scan
Builds a hardware profile on a disconnected machine so drivers can be fetched elsewhere and brought back.
Driver backup export
Exports the current driver set to a folder or archive for reuse after a rebuild.
Hardware report
A readable inventory of processor, memory, storage, display and network devices.

Changed in this version

  • Driver database expanded with recent chipset, network and display hardware.
  • Faster scanning on machines with many attached devices.
  • Rollback reworked to be reliable on display drivers.
  • Offline scan profile format updated for newer hardware identifiers.
  • Lower background resource use when the scheduled scan is idle.

  3. Run a scan and back up the current drivers before installing anything new.
  4. Update in small groups, restarting after display and chipset changes.

Worth knowing before you start

Back up existing drivers before the first update pass so rollback is available.
