About this release
DiskGenius is the tool that comes out when a drive is misbehaving. It covers the whole range from routine partition work to recovering data from a volume the system will no longer mount, and it does all of it from one interface rather than requiring a different program for each stage of the problem.
Partition operations are the everyday use. Resize, move, split, merge, create, format and convert between partition table types, with the system partition handled live where possible and through a boot time pass where it is not. Alignment on solid state drives is corrected automatically, and free space can be redistributed between partitions without emptying them first.
Recovery is where the Professional edition earns its place. Deleted files, lost partitions, formatted volumes and drives with damaged partition tables can all be scanned, with results previewable before anything is written so you know what is recoverable before committing. Recovery reads from the damaged drive and writes elsewhere, which is the only safe order to work in.
Around those two are the supporting tools: sector by sector cloning and imaging of a partition or a whole disk, migration of a running system to a new drive, bad sector scanning and repair attempts, health readouts from the drive controller, secure erase, virtual disk file handling and a bootable rescue environment for machines that will no longer start.

Install order
- Unpack the archive.
- Run the installer as administrator.
- Build rescue media before you need it rather than after.
- Take an image of an important drive before attempting any partition change on it.
Worth knowing before you start
Recovered data must be written to a different drive than the one being recovered from.
Partition operations on the system volume complete during a restart, so save work first.
