About this release

Cubase has been in professional rooms longer than most of the software sitting next to it, and the Pro edition is the complete version: unlimited audio, instrument and MIDI tracks, the full mixing console, the score editor, the surround and immersive path, and the whole bundled instrument and effect collection. It is one of the few packages where a project can start as a hummed idea and end as a delivered master without ever opening anything else.

The MIDI side is still the deepest part of the program. The key editor, drum editor, list editor and logical editor cover everything from nudging a single note to rewriting an entire arrangement by rule, and expression maps let one instrument track carry articulation changes that a scoring session would otherwise need a dozen tracks to express. Chord track and chord pads handle harmony as a first class object, so transposing a whole arrangement is a single move.

Audio recording is built around lanes and comping. Take after take stacks into lanes, the comping tool assembles the keeper from fragments, and crossfades resolve automatically at the joins. Variaudio handles pitch and timing correction on monophonic material inside the project rather than through an external editor, and the audio alignment tool tightens doubles and stacked vocals to a guide.

The mixer is where the edition earns its name. Full channel strips on every channel, flexible routing with unlimited groups and sends, VCA faders, a control room section for separate monitor and cue mixes, and automation that can be drawn, recorded or written in passes. Export handles stems, multiple formats and multiple mixes in one queue.

System requirements

Install order

1. Unpack the archive and keep the content folders beside the installer.
2. Run the main installer first, then the content installer for the bundled libraries.
3. Install the audio driver component if your interface does not ship its own.
4. Launch once and let the plug in scan finish before opening a real project.
