About this release
Multisim is where a circuit gets tested before anybody spends money on parts. You draw the schematic, you place the components from a library that models real parts rather than idealised ones, and you run it. The simulation core is SPICE, so the results carry the weight that decades of use have given that engine, and the front end is built so that an engineer who thinks in schematics never has to write a netlist by hand.
The instruments are the part that makes it stick. Oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analysers, logic analysers, bode plotters and multimeters drop onto the schematic and are wired in exactly as they would be on a bench, then double clicked to open a front panel that looks and behaves like the physical instrument. For teaching, this is the whole point: a student learns to use the instrument and the circuit at the same time, and mistakes cost nothing.
Analysis goes well past watching a trace. Transient, AC sweep, DC sweep, Fourier, noise, distortion, temperature sweep, worst case and Monte Carlo runs are all available, which is what turns a circuit that works into a circuit that keeps working across tolerance and temperature. The Professional level adds the deeper analyses and the larger component library, including manufacturer supplied models for real part numbers.
Nothing dead ends in the simulator. A verified schematic exports to board layout with the net list and footprint assignments intact, and microcontroller code can be co simulated alongside the analogue circuit so firmware and hardware are checked together rather than in sequence.

Install order
- Unpack the archive to a path without spaces or accents.
- Run the installer and choose the Professional feature level.
- Let the component database build on first launch before opening a design.
- Set the default analysis profile for the kind of circuits you work on most.
Worth knowing before you start
Large Monte Carlo runs benefit far more from core count than from clock speed.
Designs from earlier versions open directly with component models remapped automatically.
