About this release

SPSS is the package that made serious statistics available to people who are researchers rather than programmers. The data sits in a spreadsheet style view with a separate variable view defining types, labels, measurement levels and missing value rules, and every procedure runs from a dialogue that asks for variables in plain language and produces properly formatted output tables.

The procedure list covers what published research actually uses: descriptives and crosstabs, means comparison and the whole analysis of variance family, correlation and regression in its linear, logistic, ordinal and multinomial forms, factor and cluster analysis, reliability, non parametric tests, survival analysis and complex sample handling. Each one produces output that can be pasted into a paper largely as it stands.

Data preparation is half of any real project and the package treats it that way. Merging and aggregating files, restructuring between wide and long layouts, recoding, computing derived variables, weighting cases, selecting subsets, handling missing values through several imputation approaches, and validating a file against rules before analysis begins.

Everything done through a dialogue also writes a syntax command, which is what makes the work reproducible. Paste the syntax, save it, and the whole analysis reruns on updated data in one pass. Output is a navigable document of tables and charts that exports to the document, spreadsheet and portable formats a supervisor or journal expects.

System requirements

Install order

1. Unpack the archive to a path without spaces or accents.
2. Run the base installer and select the modules you need.
3. Apply the interim fix package after the base install completes.
4. Launch once and set the working folder before opening a real data file.
