About this release
This is the current generation of the desktop system with the document suite already in the image, prepared so that the hardware check which normally blocks installation does not stand in the way. A great many perfectly capable machines are refused by that check for reasons that have nothing to do with whether they can run the system well, and this image simply skips the question and installs.
The Professional feature set is complete. Group policy, remote desktop hosting, drive encryption, domain join, the hypervisor platform and the sandbox are all present, which is what makes this the edition worth putting on a machine that has a job to do. Nothing is removed to make space for the suite that ships alongside it.
The document suite is the perpetual generation rather than a subscription client, installed as ordinary desktop applications. Word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, database, publishing and mail all open the current formats and use the interface people already know, and they will let you start typing the moment the desktop appears rather than asking who you are first.
As an image it behaves like any other. Write it to a stick, boot, choose a display language from the multilingual set, and let setup run. Regional formats and keyboard layouts follow the language choice, driver coverage brings up network and storage on most hardware, and either a clean install or an upgrade over an existing system is offered at the partition stage.
