MediaHuman YouTube Downloader

Version 3.9.22 build 1007MediaHuman84.6 MBFull desktop buildRefreshed 1 week ago

A quiet, batch minded downloader that takes a long list of links and works through it without asking questions.

About this release

Where most download tools are built around handling one link at a time well, this one is built around handling three hundred links without supervision. Preferences are set once, covering format, resolution, destination folder and naming, and after that every link dropped into the window is processed against those settings with no dialog and no confirmation. The queue simply grows and the application works through it.

Batch input is deliberately flexible. Links can be pasted individually, dropped in as a block of text, imported from a file, or picked up automatically from the clipboard as they are copied. Playlists and channels expand into their individual items in the queue, where any of them can be removed before the transfer reaches them.

Output handling is more thoughtful than the plain interface suggests. Files can be named from the source title, the uploader, the playlist position or a template combining them, and can be sorted into subfolders per playlist or per channel automatically. Audio only extraction writes a normal audio file with the metadata and cover art filled in from the source, which makes the result usable in a music library rather than an orphan file.

The application stays out of the way while it works. It runs in the notification area, it limits how many transfers run at once so the connection stays usable, it retries a failed item on its own, and it can shut the machine down when the queue empties. Subscriptions watch a channel and add new items to the queue as they appear.

What it does

Built for batches
Set preferences once and every link added afterwards is processed without prompting.
Flexible input
Paste, drop a text block, import a file, or pick links up from the clipboard automatically.
Naming templates
Name output from title, uploader or playlist position and sort into subfolders automatically.
Audio with metadata
Extracted audio arrives tagged with title, artist and cover art rather than as a bare file.
Unattended running
Sits in the notification area, retries failures on its own and can shut down when the queue empties.
Subscriptions
Watch a channel and add new items to the queue as they appear.

Changed in this version

  • Faster queue processing on lists of several hundred items.
  • Improved metadata tagging on extracted audio.
  • Naming template editor rewritten with a live preview.
  • Better recovery from a dropped connection mid queue.
  • Interface scaling corrected on high density displays.

System requirements

Processor1 GHz or faster
Memory2 GB minimum
Disk200 MB for the install plus room for downloads
NetworkAny working connection
SystemWindows 7 or newer

Install order

  1. Unpack the archive and run the installer.
  2. Set format, resolution, destination and naming template in preferences before adding anything.
  3. Turn on clipboard monitoring if you want links picked up as you copy them.
  4. Set the parallel transfer limit so the connection stays usable while the queue runs.

Worth knowing before you start

Preferences apply to everything added afterwards, so check them before dropping in a long list.

The shutdown on completion option is under the queue menu rather than in preferences.
