Attention, Fresno City College community! An unexpected closure is upon us, but we're here to navigate through it together.
On Tuesday, February 3, our campus will be partially closed due to ongoing repairs on the main water lines. This essential work, taking place near Parking Lot K behind the Old Administration Building, has led to a temporary shutdown of the west side of campus. But here's where it gets controversial: the east side remains open for business, and we're ensuring a smooth transition for our students and staff.
For those in need of technological support, the HelpDesk Line at (559) 443-8670 is your go-to resource. And this is the part most people miss: several key locations on the east side will remain accessible for classes and activities. These include the New Science Building, a hub for academic excellence; the Child Development Center, offering a safe and stimulating environment for our youngest learners; Ratcliffe Stadium and Field House, where our athletic programs thrive; the Health Sciences Building, a center for medical education; the Welcome Center/Mailroom, a friendly face for all visitors; and the State Center Community College District Police Department, ensuring our safety.
In exciting news, the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) caravan and fair event, originally scheduled for tomorrow, will now take place at the outdoor plaza area next to the New Science Building. This event promises to be a vibrant celebration of diversity and education, bringing together over 20 colleges and universities.
To stay informed, keep an eye on the FCC website and the First to Know system for updates. We understand the inconvenience this closure may cause, but we're committed to supporting our students both in-person and remotely. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated during this time of transition.
Let's embrace this challenge as an opportunity to showcase our resilience and community spirit! Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. How are you adapting to this unexpected change?
